A pair of small interlocking hemispherical porcelain biscuit tea bowls. The larger one is enamelled on the inside. Together, they stand on a curved support bearing the artist's signature and the Sèvres marks, and each rests on a porcelain hoop. Presented in a wooden box, wrapped in a Furoshiki and accompanied by hand-painted Japanese leaflets.
Works of art made entirely by hand by our craftsmen in the workshops of the Manufacture. Nuances and variations may appear from one piece to the next, making each one almost unique.
Marie-Ange Guilleminot is a French visual, textile and performance artist who graduated from the Villa Arson (Nice) and is familiar with the misappropriation of objects. In 2012, she explored the heritage of forms and knowhows at Sèvres during a residency at the Manufacture, which resulted in a number of striking creations, including this duo of bowls.
In 2005, she exhibited at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, and in 2006, following her residency at the Kyoto Art Center, she presented a series of kimonos, later exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. In 2010, the Centre Pompidou exhibited La Présentation des Vêtements blancs de Hiroshima. In 2012 at the Villa Savoye, she presented Habiter la maison and created the sculpture ...du meuble spirale au meuble infini...
