Figure group created around 1766 for Sèvres by Étienne-Maurice Falconet. Stamped and pastillage porcelain biscuit. Ornamentation and pastillage are handcrafted, making the details of each piece unique. Sèvres marks in relief on the base.
The sculpture is entirely handmade by our craftsmen in the workshops of the Manufacture. Nuances and variations may appear from one piece to another, making each one almost unique.
The scene depicted in this biscuit is taken from the play of the same name, commissioned from Favart by Madame de Mauconseil. It was first performed at Bagatelle before the Polish king Stanislas. The play was such a success that it was later performed four times at Versailles and once at Trianon. The biscuit portrays a reunion between a gardener, Jacquot, and his beloved, Colette.
