Sèvres rose
Small sculpture in soft porcelain biscuit, delicately hand-modelled by our craftsmen using 18th century techniques. This motif is emblematic of the Sèvres repertoire of this period, marked by the influence of Madame de Pompadour's taste on the Manufacture's production.
Sèvres marks on the bottom. Each rose is unique.
The Sèvres rose is an essential piece in the process of transmitting the know-how of the factory, but it is also an emblem of our long history. Created at the request of Madame de Pompadour in the form of a bouquet, it is said that the marquise amazed Louis XV by inviting him into the greenhouse of the château de Bellevue (now defunct) on a winter's day, where the famous porcelain flowers, scented and painted in their natural state, were resplendent among the vegetation numbed by the cold. The Sèvres rose thus became an emblematic object of Madame de Pompadour's privileged relationship with the King.
