Jean-Jacques Bachelier
A biscuit porcelain sculpture from the set of Enfants Saisons created under the direction of Jean-Jacques Bachelier in 1769 for the Manufacture de Sèvres. This biscuit required 8 moulds. Sèvres marks on the base.
The sculpture is entirely handmade by our craftsmen in the workshops of the Manufacture. Shades and variations may appear from one piece to another, making each one almost unique.
The Enfants Saisons series was created for the Surtout Bachelier or Surtout du mariage du Dauphin (the Dauphin's wedding table centrepiece) and consists of Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer biscuits. The Surtout Bachelier was created to adorn the banquet table for the wedding of the Dauphin, future King Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette on 16 May 1770. The ensemble was part of the splendour of the many festivities held to mark this celebration.
