The ceramic artist Emmanuel Boos undertook a residency in the Manufacture’s laboratory from 2016 to 2018. It is here, since 1740, that Sèvres’ coloured glazes have been conceived, produced and archived. His approach to glaze unfolds in volume and sculpture. By choosing the cube as a generic element for developing his colour palettes, he is able to observe how glaze behaves vertically, horizontally, along edges and also in thickness.

Emmanuel Boos, born in 1969 in Saint‑Étienne, discovered ceramics in the United States at the age of fourteen. A graduate of the Essec‑Universität Mannheim, he apprenticed with the Maître d’Art Jean Girel from 2000 to 2003 before joining a workshop specialising in porcelain paste. He quickly received numerous awards: the Ateliers d’Art de France Young Creator of the Year prize, the Maison & Objet Discovery Award, and the Grand Prix de la Création of the City of Paris in 2005. From 2016 to 2019, he was in residence at the Manufacture de Sèvres.
